My back hurts. A lot. I’m not talking about I hurt my back, although I have recovered from multiple back, I’d call them “incidents,” with one potentially deem-able “injury. This is more like I’m sore AF, my back is fatigued, I’m just done for the day.
= Me
Once I shifted to a more aware mindset on how my body feels when I do certain activities, I’ve noticed that my back bears the burden most of the time, in everything I do. Meaning, the muscles in my back are engaged, more often than my front side. Ergo, my back hurts.
By the end of the day all I ever want to do is assume the horizontal position.
Also = Me
The Time and Money Dilemma
There have been many wonderful remedies that take more time and effort and visiting a professional, but sometimes I don’t have the time or money for that. That’s the truth. So, upon scouring the drug store I came across a few goodies to get me by in between seeing the pros.
My forever go-to: Salonpas
These little miracle patches do wonders for localized pain relief.
How to Use
The most simple application – peel and stick to wherever it hurts.
They have different sizes. For your larger areas you might want the larger pack. I often have neck area tightness so I opt for the smaller size so that I can get acrobatic with the patches. If I’m really tight, I’ll use multiple at a time to really get the entire area to release. Some days one patch does the trick, other days I go through multiple rounds for multiple days. Just depends on how you are feeling.
The best part of Salonpas is that it starts working SO FAST. Faster than ibuprofen fast.
Within minutes I feel the cool/hot sensation kick in and very shortly after the muscles are penetrated, leaving me feeling uber-relaxed. I often get headaches stemming from tension on the left side of my neck. I place a couple of those patches around where it’s the most tight and I get almost instant results. AND the headache usually goes away after about 30 minutes to an hour.
Warning! Weird Tastes Ahead
Now the only weird part is if you place these near your head/neck, you might taste the menthol and, um, feel it in your eyes slightly. Not to be alarmed! This is normal, it happens to me sometimes and goes away after an hour or whenever you take the patch off.
What a deal!
You get 60 in the small box. They last forever for under $10 bucks, sooo $.15 for instant relaxation? What a deal. If you’re like me and you experience any pain or tightness, try Salonpas before grabbing for that bottle of ibuprofen, your liver will thank you later.
Have you tried pain relief patches? What has worked for you?
