COVID-19 Grocery Shopping List: Shelf Stable
Canned tuna – great for a shelf stable protein source. This is at the top of my COVID-19 grocery shopping list in case nothing becomes available. Get no salt added, in water, wild.
Brown rice (or any rice) – I like short grain brown rice for the texture but any rice you like is perfect.
Beans – these are in a short supply these days and for good reason. Beans are a complex carbohydrate and that means they fill you up with high amounts of fiber and a bonus of protein.
Chicken broth (low sodium) – we stocked up on this for cooking and if need to drink!
Whole wheat crackers like Triscuits – a great snack and goes well with the tuna. Add some everything but the bagel seasoning to top off a great snack.
Bran cereal – this complex carb is a great shelf stable staple for your COVID-19 grocery shopping list. I like the high fiber to help with lowering cholesterol, weight loss, and feeling fuller longer.
Grapeseed oil for cooking – this works well on high heat, especially for cast iron cooking.
Birch blenders waffle mix – I LOVE this stuff. Make your weekends feel more like weekends with some waffles 🙂
Oats – rolled and steel cut – both complex carbs to help you feel fuller longer
Nutritional yeast – great to add cheese flavor but high in fiber and protein and it’s vegan.

COVID-19 Grocery Shopping List: Fresh Foods
I noticed the grocery stores were wiped clean of the above shelf stable items but the healthy fresh foods were in ample supply. We shopped at Sprouts and Ralph’s here in San Diego and both had a decent supply of fresh veggies and fruits.
Remember, these items will be good for at least a week. Don’t be afraid to buy whole, real, fresh food while they are available. The shelf stable goods should be your backup plan.
