It started because I wanted to lose weight. I was not happy with the way I looked, and felt like I could be a better version of myself. So a few years ago I searched the internet for “female CrossFit transformation” to see what the hype was all about. My husband had been nagging me to go with him [to CrossFit] and since we were getting married that summer and I wanted to get in great shape, I decided to go for it. Here’s my 2 year before and after female CrossFit transformation story.
Before I got into my current routine I bounced all over the place with some inconsistent weight training, yoga, and running. I definitely didn’t follow a regimented plan. Most of the time I just did whatever I felt like in the gym. Or tried to find a fitness blogger’s training guide to follow along.

Once I started CrossFit, there was a class, I had to show up, on time. CrossFit classes are more official that other group fitness I’d done before. There’s a coach leading you through the workouts, my husband was there for accountability, and for some reason, in my mind, that meant I couldn’t just go when I felt like it. I showed up 5 days a week on average.
CrossFit had become more like going to practice when I was in sports in high school. The coach will push me and keep me motivated and the same members show up class after class, so it felt like a team.
“I’d been working out for years. CrossFit finally gave me the results I was looking.”
The accountability, consistency, and heavy lifting were all major players in my success with CrossFit. I’d been working out for years (doing my own thing). CrossFit finally gave me the results I was looking for. But, I’ll tell ya, it wasn’t without a struggle.
After starting CrossFit two years ago I struggled with countless body limitations and pain which held me back in many ways. I found bodywork therapies that worked, and ways to modify to keep going, and I’m sure glad I did.
My story is a bit unique, my goal isn’t to turn you away. I found out I have slight scoliosis and severe muscle imbalances that came along with it. I’ve since figured out how to manage those, if you need a tip – DM me on Instagram, I’m happy to share what works the best.
2 Year Female CrossFit Transformation Results
Here we are two years later. What I didn’t realize was my weight wouldn’t change (much). I lost about 5-10 lbs depending on the day. But I’ve gained muscle and that’s kept me somewhere between 150-155. I don’t know exactly because I don’t weigh myself regularly.
Doing CrossFit for 2 years has helped me make fitness a daily lifestyle. Even on days I can’t get to the gym I make a point to walk more. Walk my dog, walk after lunch, or walk while listening to a podcast. I aim for 10k steps a day on those days.
My why has since changed from the January 2018 version of myself. Now I workout not just to be lean but because I want to maintain being healthy well into my future decades. My goal is to be mobile (limber) first and foremost, but also, capable, strong, and accomplished well into my senior years of life.
I want not only to keep up with my future children, but them to keep up with me.
